NYFW SS 2016 Recap: Rachel Zoe RTW

When it comes to fashion and fabulous style, Rachel Zoe is your girl. I've been a fan of hers for quite some time now and when she initially announced she would be introducing a clothing line into her franchise I was super stoked. From her bold fur adorned looks to her boho chic outfits, Zoe has a timeless look that I believe is to die for.

She presented her Spring/Summer Ready to Wear line during New York Fashion Week on February 14th and the looks beautifully captured the late Seventies while incorporating modern silhouettes. I personally expected this line to have an absence of color due to Zoe being an avid wearer of blacks and whites. Her muted color palette was extremely refreshing and I find myself wanting to pair these colors into my own looks.

Her pieces were very cohesive and in turn told a story that was filled with romance. I appreciated the integration of her own personal style into this collection and can't wait to see them off of the runway!

My Healthy Hair Care Journey

Hey Fashloves,

As you all know, once a new year is upon us everyone begins jotting down their list of things to improve on as well as change. I created a list of my own but totally omitted any health/fitness related goals and didn't even realize it until about two weeks ago!

As I was getting a relaxer from my go to hair stylist, I had an epiphany. I realized that the health of my hair hasn't been a priority of mine and it was definitely starting to show. Leaving home and moving to a new location for College really put a strain on my routines that I was accustomed to and I used that as an excuse. One thing I've learned for sure while in school is that if you have the ability to do something on your own, instead of depending on others, just do it!

So that is exactly what I have been doing. I've recently invested in hair care products and decided that I may cut relaxers out of my life. Being that I have been getting relaxers for about 10 years now I know this journey will not be an easy one. Luckily, there are tons of other women who have graciously shared their transitioning story/process so newbies like my self can jump into hair care with a little peace of mind.

Here are the products I have purchased to keep my hair clean, moisturized, and nourished. So far I have been washing and deep conditioning my hair every week along with completely cutting out heat from my regimen. I thought air drying my hair would have me looking completely crazy but instead my hair is appearing fuller and more healthy. Because of this, I've decided to give my self a hair challenge for this month and it would be to completely avoid using any heat styling tools as well as a hair dryer #NoHeatFebruary

As I continue on my healthy hair journey I'll be posting more updates and sharing any tips I can for all of my transitioning girls out there. So far this is what I've learned:
  1. Deep conditioning is your friend! If you have thicker hair use a deep conditioning that has a thick consistency and leave it in for 30 to 45 minutes.
  2. Use natural oils to moisturize your hair (My extra virgin coconut oil has been a life saver).
  3. Be sure to read the labels and avoid any products with harsh chemicals such as sulfate.
